As a student, Patrick Mahomes excelled in basketball, baseball, and football. During his junior year at Texas Tech University, he decided to focus entirely on football. At the 2017 NFL draft, he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round.
After throwing 256 yards and four touchdowns during his first game as a starting quarterback for the Chiefs in 2018, Mahomes was named “AFC Offensive Player of the Week”. Soon, he became the second quarterback in the history of the NFL to throw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns. As a result, he was named the season’s NFL MVP — the first Chiefs player to ever achieve this.
At the Super Bowl LIV, Mahomes was an instrumental player in the Kansas City Chiefs winning their first Super Bowl victory in 50 years. During the game, he threw 286 yards and two touchdowns plus another 29 yards and one touchdown. This earned him the prestigious award of Super Bowl MVP, the youngest quarterback in history to be given this recognition.
