While playing for the University of Oklahoma from 2007 to 2009, Blake Griffin was already a basketball superstar. Not only did he rake in all six national player of the year awards as a sophomore, but he was also recognized as “Player of the Year” by outlets such as FoxSports.com and Sports Illustrated. At the 2009 NBA draft, Griffin was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers as the first overall pick.
The phenomenal athlete went on to continue his winning streak, and was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month six times all throughout the season and became the champion of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 2011. Ultimately, Griffin was named Rookie of the Year, and even earned a spot on Sports Illustrated’s 2011 list of “15 Best Rookies of All Time”
This basketball icon has since been named an NBA All Star six times, and was also selected to the All-NBA five times. In 2018, Griffin began playing for the Detroit Pistons and then signed with the Brooklyn Nets in 2021.
